Art Auction

Rebuild a community.

Ranked as one of the nation's deadliest and most devastating natural disasters, the Joplin tornado of May 22, 2011 destroyed a 138-year-old community in 30 minutes. Let's help the people of Joplin, Missouri. They need us.

Download the album from NoiseTrade, and donate what you can. 100% of the album profits will be donated to Heart of Missouri, United Way.

Songs for Joplin Vol. 2 and The Close Out Bash

11/04/2011

We are currently putting together all the bands, artwork and everything else for Songs for #Joplin Vol. 2. We have a different music director behind this one so it should definitely sound different. Our rough release date is Nov. 22nd.

We are also planning a party bash to close out Songs for Joplin and donate all of our proceeds to Joplin with the express purpose of rebuilding. More info on that when we get more info (which means that our founder, Zach Becker (@docmisterio), is working hard at getting talent, venue and art to buy at the event)

It’s been a long time coming and honestly when I started this I had no idea it would get this big or go this far… but I’m officially announcing the “Songs for Joplin Art Show” and this is it’s story.

The album launched to a pretty good start. Several weeks after it started to taper off… early on I had the idea of making a video to further promote and get people to download and donate towards the effort. I was contacted by a local photography company that wanted to do this… so we sat down and brainstormed… let’s just get some stills, video, and an interview from all the artists we can… so several hundred miles and two cities later we have all the media we need.

The video is in progress and will be released sometime in September, it features exclusive Joplin footage from a place called Glory Days music store and my friend Derek Webb talking about how music affects people and how it’s usage in charity has a lasting effect.

While we were in Nashville shooting some of that city’s artists we were eating some mexican food and trying to figure out what we wanted to do with the other non video media (specifically the stills) when someone said “Let’s do an art show”. I liked the idea so much I ran with it. The next day I tweeted if anyone wanted to do an art show and thanks to Derek and his 24,000 followers listening to his retweets, a company called Proxart contacted me and after lots of work and loads of back and forth emails we are finally able to announce that the Songs for Joplin Art show is happening.

It will feature 18 prints. One exclusive shot from Joplin. One of our Artists. One of each will be paired up to make 9 items. I’m so excited that I’m finally able to talk about this publicly.

It is happening 30 mins north of L.A, California and at a place called “The Undergrounds” Coffee House
On September 10th. from 7-10PM. Plan accordingly.
